San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest during a robbery. Pearsall was listed as being in serious, but stable condition. The 49ers asked for people to “respect his privacy” as he’s in the hospital.
The suspect was also shot by accident. The suspect tried to rob Pearsall and Pearsall was shot in the chest. The suspect was shot during the struggle. Cops responded to a call where both men were found with gunshot wounds. This was near a Dolce & Gabbana store along 77 Geary St, near the Grant Ave section.
San Francisco police Chief William Scott said, according to SF Gate, “He was walking alone when a suspect approached him and attempted to commit an armed robbery using a gun… A struggle between Mr. Pearsall and the suspect ensued and gunfire from the suspect’s gun struck both Mr. Pearsall and the subject.”
Chief Scott doesn’t believe the suspect targeted Pearsall because he’s on the 49ers. There’s a good chance that it was likely a random robbery, as many people may not know who Pearsall is yet. As many people know, crime in California is getting out of hand and Ricky Pearsall can’t even walk down the street without becoming a victim of an attempted robbery and shot in the chest. Video below shows the ambulance at the scene.
