The FBI arrested a city councilman in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, but the details of the case are still not clear.
Mayor Phil Mendelson stated that Trayon White Sr., a fellow council member, was arrested on Sunday afternoon, Fox News reported.
“I’ve talked to several people. I can confirm he was arrested around 2 o’clock by the FBI,” Mendelson told a WTTG reporter. “I’m anxious to get more details to understand what is the situation. … You all know as much as I know.”
“Sunday afternoon multiple reports came out that White had been arrested in Southeast, D.C. We sent our crew to 1000 South Capitol, when they arrived they spoke with residents of the 10K Hill South apartment building who say the FBI raided the building,” WUSA9 reported.
Shortly after the raid, residents received an email from the building management.
“Dear Resident, We wanted to inform you about a recent police presence at 10K Hill South. Please be assured that this was a localized procedure and does not pose any risk to our community. If you have any questions or need assistance, our team is available at the front desk to help with anything you may need. Thank you for your attention, and we appreciate your cooperation. 10K Hill South Management,” the letter stated.
Allegedly, FBI agents arrested the councilman in a penthouse unit. The charges pending against White have not been released yet.
In March 2018, White made national news when he said that Jewish financiers control the weather. During a video of himself driving through snowy downtown Washington, D.C., he claimed while ranting about “climate manipulation.”
“And D.C. keep talking about, ‘We’re a resilient city.’ And that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man,” he said in the now-deleted video. “Be careful.”
For hundreds of years, antisemitics have said that the Rothschilds, a European Jewish banking family descended from Mayer Amschel Rothschild, are behind many evil plots, such as the idea that they run the world’s banks and control global events to benefit themselves.
White initially defended his comments, saying, “The video says what it says,” but he later apologized to the Jewish community.
In 2013, White tweeted at Louis Farrakhan, the well-known antisemitic leader of the Nation of Islam. He said he was “honored” to share a birthday with Farrakhan and “must respect his intelligence, will, and boldness.”
It was reported in 2018 that White gave $500 to a Nation of Islam gathering in Chicago, where Farrakhan called “powerful Jews” his enemy and said other hurtful things. White was then criticized.
“I am not resigning, I’m not backing down, I’m not discouraged, I’m not depressed, so run all the media stories you want because my people are going to support me,” White said when faced with backlash.
