Vice President Kamala Harris’s past caught up with her again earlier this week after President Joe Biden announced he would end his reelection campaign and endorsed her as the Democratic nominee.
According to the San Francisco Standard, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown held a short news conference outside a restaurant in the city and endorsed Harris. The outlet only noted that Brown “dated Harris when she was an Alameda County prosecutor in the mid-1990s,” but there is much more to the story.
But there’s more to their relationship than that. As noted by Politico in 2019, San Francisco newspapers first mentioned Harris in 1994, when a columnist noted that actor Clint Eastwood had spilled champagne on Brown’s “new steady” at Brown’s 60th birthday. At the time, Harris was just 29 years old.
And not long afterward, her relationship with the San Francisco mayor appeared to ‘pay off.’
Politico states, “Harris had dated Brown, who was investigated by the FBI when he was speaker of the California Assembly and as mayor was dogged by conflict of interest, and she had benefited from his political patronage.”
The report added, “As the speaker of the state Assembly, Brown had named Harris to well-paid posts on the California Medical Assistance Commission and Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board.”
Furthermore, “As mayor of San Francisco in 2003, Brown was supportive of her district attorney campaign although they were no longer dating. Critics — including her opponents — were bemoaning cronyism at City Hall.”
Put another way, Harris managed to get ahead under Brown’s tutelage, so to speak, at such a young age, even as he was being investigated for political chicanery.
This relationship and how Harris’ career was launched did not escape The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, who wrote on X after Biden endorsed her: “Kamala Harris got her start in politics by sleeping with Willie Brown. She became Vice President because Biden needed a non-white female on the ticket. Now she likely becomes the Democratic nominee for president because the guy at the top of the ticket has dementia. She’s made a career out of begging for handouts from powerful men. A thoroughly unimpressive human being.”
Dr. Naomi Wolf, a former far-left liberal, reprimanded Walsh somewhat and cautioned her against focusing on Harris’s more scandalous past due to the political risk involved.
“This kind of sexist take from Republican men will not play well. Swing voters who are women are up for grabs, the Trump/Vance ticket needs them, and ‘she slept her way to the top’ just repels many women and is not an argument,” she responded.
Harris is already facing an uphill battle as she aims to become the Democratic nominee and take on former President Donald Trump in November.

During an interview on Fox News, contributor Ari Fleischer spoke about Democrats having “buyer’s remorse” with Harris.
“Maybe this is one of the reasons why they have not taken a position. What Ryan said, I think the Democrats are going to have buyer’s remorse here. After the press rallies around her, if she doesn’t pass Trump in the polls after this huge press love affair, what does she have?” Fleischer began.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if, right before the convention, she is trailing Donald Trump by a significant margin. What is the Plan C? Maybe that’s why they are being silent right now. Maybe they are being silent as Donald Trump waits for the nomination to be official. But either the boost that the press is going to give her is going to be real. Or Donald Trump is still the front runner for the presidency, that is going to scare the Democrats, just like it scared them to get rid of Biden,” Fleischer added.
