A daycare in Greenville, KinderCare, has a history of supervision problems, according to Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Recently, a 3-year-old boy named Marley Burgess wandered into the street while the daycare was supposed to be supervising him, raising concerns about their negligence. Marley ended up 423 feet away from the facility, and a Good Samaritan had to rescue him as cars passed by without noticing him.
DHHS is aware of KinderCare new negligence
The DHHS is aware of the incident and is considering the next steps against KinderCare located on Stantonsburg Rd. They typically conduct annual inspections but this daycare had 11 unannounced visits last year.
An inspector noted that during a visit on August 9, 2023: “While I was present on playground at the facility, I observed that four staff members were grouped together facing each other talking while providing care to children.”
Marley’s 2nd day at school
Marley’s mother, Mecca Burgess, expressed her anger and frustration, stating that it was only her son’s second day at the daycare when this occurred.
It has also been reported that the teachers involved have been placed on administrative leave, and one of them has reportedly been fired.
