A woman from North Carolina, Glandina Dixon, 47, was killed by a man who followed her into a QuikTrip gas station in Charlotte and beat her to death with a hammer late Saturday night.
Video shows suspect going inside the store before returning to his truck to retrieve a hammer
Surveillance footage reviewed by the police shows Dixon entering the the QuikTrip located on Trailer Drive, near North Graham Street and Interstate 85 with 53-year-old Sam Roary trailing behind her. Shortly after, Roary was seen returning to his truck to grab a hammer before following Dixon into the women’s restroom, where she was later found dead.
911 call
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police received a call around 11:15 p.m. on August 17 from someone in a restroom stall who reported hearing a noise and discovering Dixon bleeding from her head, with blood on the floor.
When paramedics arrived, they pronounced Dixon dead at the scene. Police noted that Roary spent only about 40 seconds in the restroom before leaving the store, getting back into his truck, and driving away.
Investigators revealed that Roary and Dixon were acquainted, according to WCNC Charlotte, but details about the circumstances leading to the attack remain unclear.
Roary has been arrested and charged with murder. He is in jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
